M.E.D.I.A. System
Q: What is M.E.D.I.A.?
M.E.D.I.A. Stands for 'Midwest Electronic Dance-Music Informational Archive'. Essentially it is an SQL driven database that manages all of the events that are posted here. M.E.D.I.A. was proprietarily designed for this website to control event postings so that artists, events and production crews are all linked. Events submitted through the M.E.D.I.A. system also have an event post automatically assambled and placed into the corosponding event category forum, event discussion, and the calendar. The event also autotmatically gets inserted into our Wireless WAP portal so that you can access event information on the go via your cellphone's WAP browser.
M.E.D.I.A. houses artist profiles so all DJ's and Producers that are members here can manage their profile, upload sets and tracks for people to listen live or download and manage their own biography. Sets uploaded to DJ profiles are automcally added to the the 'Local Showcase' daily radio block for immediate exposure to who ever is listening.
Promoters also get the opportunity to create and manage a profile. Every time they post an event, the event is linked to their profile and anyone browsing their profile can see all of their past events in the Archive, as well as any future events that they have posted.
There is so much more than what I have covered here today, but that should be enough information to get the gist of it all.
Q: I am a promoter, How do I post my events?
In order post events, you need to be added to the Promoters/DJs group and your promoter profile needs to be setup in the system. To get your account the correct access, please make topic in THIS FORUM. Within the topic, please provide as much information as you can about your production comapny and anything we could use to validate your request, such as a current website, myspace page or post a few flyers from events you have done.
Once your profile is set up and you have been added to the appropriate group, you will need to fill out your profile before you are able to post events. Once you fill out the profile and save it, you can then access the 'Add New Event' wizard by clicking on 'Promoter Tools' on the main menu bar from just about any page on the site.
**NOTICE: It is very wise to create a seperate M·EDM account for your production crew with a password that you can give to your crew memebers. This is because we will NOT create another crew profile for someone else in your crew that would like to post events. We cannot give him access to a profile that is already created. It is in your best interest to have an account for your production company and your own personal account for posting and communicating.
If you are not part of a promoter crew or just want to post an event without jumping through all of those hoops, you can submit an event through the Contributions Section.
Forums
Q: How do I add 'Not Safe For Work' content to posts?
Use the [nsfw][/nsfw] tags. For example, an explicit picture can be posted like this: [nsfw][img]http://www.url-to-image.com/imagename.jpg[/img][/nsfw].
Preforming the above would cause the picture to be hidden in a NSFW layer that presents a warning and a link to show the picture.
Q: How can I change the 'Clickable Smilies' available to me when I am making a post?
In any reply screen (except for the FastReply) there is a 'Favorites Emotions' link under the 'Clickable Smilies'. Click that link and a window will pop-up. You may have to stretch the window to the right in order to see the selection boxes. Once you see them, go through and check all of the smilies you want to be in your clickables box... Be weary of picking large smilies or a large quantity of smilies because it will make your post screen look funny if you go overboard. When you are finished click the submit button at the bottom and then close that window once it refreshes (It's okay if the smilies you checked arent still checked). Refresh your reply post screen and you should see your favorite emoticons!

Ticket Sales
Q: I am promoting an event, How can I sell my pre-sales through your website?
The best way to set this up is to PM digitsix and just let him know that you are interested in selling tickets with M·EDM.
If you do not have an account with us, and therefore cannot PM, you can send an EMail request to: admin@midwest-edm.com.
Q: If I purchase pre-sales online, do I need to print anything?
To be safe, I would always print the confirmation page and bring it with to the venue the night of the event. We do everything in our power to get a pre-sale guest list to the event promoters the day of the event, however we cannot guarentee they will have this list handy at the door so having your proof of purchase along with your picture ID is definately a good idea.
M·EDM Radio
Q: How do I get my own radio show?
You need to have experience with internet broadcast radio, or at least be tech-savvy enough to figure out how this works with little to no help from us. It is also helpful if you have an established name in the scene or are at least willing to promote your show outside of M·EDM.com. Lastly, we need to have slots available. If you feel you would do good with a weekly show and want to give it a shot, please make a post in the M·EDM Radio forum with "Show Request" in the topic.
Q: When I listen to the radio, the sound keeps cutting out and the screen says "buffering".
If you are having connection problems like this you may need to increase your buffer in the connection settings of your player. Every player is different so consult the manual for the player you are using on how to increase the buffer size for streaming audio.
Also, if you are on a slow connection like dial-up or your download of the latest Porn DVD is hogging up your connection, this could be the problem as well.
Arcade & Prizes
Q: How often are the Arcade Games updated?
There is no set interval at which we update new games but gennerally speaking we check for new games to add every few months.
Q: When I try to play the Arcade I get error messages about a flash pluggin?
You need to have a flash player installed in your system. You can obtain the latest copy of flash by visiting http://www.macromedia.com.
Q: What kind of prizes can I win in the arcade?
Prizes very from tournament to tournament depending on what is donated, however most of the prizes are guestlist spots to upcoming events. Everyone who accepts email from the Administrator will be notified via email every time there is a new prize tournament. Altneratively, you can check THIS FORUM for current Arcade Tournaments.
