**UPDATE** All of the local flavor sets have been re-mastered except the Tolgar/PM set (That one didn't need it) - So if you got your copies of these sets before 4pm on 1/22/09, you should re-download the new versions! The new versions say 'v2' at the end of the file name! Trust me the new ones sound much better as the clips have been restored much more fully on these.
The wait is over and the "Downloads" tab on MEDM is now fully operational! Not only do you get accesses to MEDM Feature Mix Downloads, but you also get an 'At-A-Glance' view of the live sets forum, complete with a search box!
Of the 7 recorded Local Flavor VS Edition sets we did not release 'Knex vs Adonis' or the 'Broken Religion' set due to technical difficulties. Cops resulting in the volume being lowered... and when the volume was up, rocks & dust falling from the ceiling and landing on the vinyl didn't help either. Broken Religion said they might put together a feature mix similar to what they played at the party for us so stay tuned on that one!
A note on recording quality. Since I was working the door the whole night I couldn't watch the levels so unfortunately 'Tha Don Vs SpaceCadet' and 'Jade Vs Dottcom' are a bit distorted, however in the spirit of the party rocking off the chains we put them up anyway. Just don't say I didn't warn you about the quality.
Lastly, there is a limit of sorts being enforced here. You must be logged in to download Featured Mixes. You are only allowed 1 download per half hour - Which you can bypass by posting 3 times somewhere on the forum once the 30 minute timer has started (as soon as you start a download) - We are doing this to hopefully spark some new traffic back to the site which we are in dire need of. If you love the EDM scene / Party scene / Rave scene or whatever you want to call it, then please support MEDM and ask your friends to do it too!
![Local Flavor 4 [VS Edition] This Saturday!](/feed_img/1262759213-1.jpeg)
By: Ricky Lashes on 01-06-2010Seismic Bass & Shake-it-Town are back and looking to start 2010 with a bang bringing forth another installment in the Local Flavor Saga. An event that has been a highlight in the Chicago underground scene for the past 4 years. Everything planned for this installment promises to not only live up to the Local Flavor name, but will most likely raise the bar yet again. And that's what SBSIT is all about, raising the bar with every event.
This is a special event that puts some amazing talent on the decks together for the first time ever. They are bringing back crowd favorite Tolgar, a Chicago local that outshines the spotlight with his energetic DJ Performances and eclectic production talents. Putting Tolgar together with P.M. is a recipe for absolute madness. This Saturday is not just another party; It's Broken Religion coming down from Milwaukee on a mission to destroy the dance floor. It's TheoG & DJ Kyur redefining "dirty". It's P.M. & Tolgar making history... This is so much more and you had better have a real good excuse if you miss out.
All that is really well and great and it's not even the icing on the cake. So if you are aren't sold, listen up. SBSIT only does a few special events a year and there is a reason. SBSIT brings out, bar-none, the biggest productions in the underground scene and believe you-me, this time is no exception. No expense has be spared and this just might be their most extravagant set up to date.
When you wake up on Saturday morning just know one thing... It's ON!

By: Ricky Lashes on 11-28-2009I seriously cannot stop laughing and I have no Idea how I missed this. Not sure if anyone has seen this yet but its hysterical! Steve Porter, apparently took this infomercial they were playing and remixed it into a rap. It's classic! Play it over and over! Click the download link to download the mp3!

By: Ricky Lashes on 11-11-2009I haven't been one to do 'track reviews' because, well not being a DJ it's hard to keep up with who is producing what these days, especially with the diversity that's available in the electronic music world. I also feel like I'm probably not 'zero day' enough for some of the snobs out there (You know who you are!). That being said, and don't quote me on this, the track that I am featuring here was released in August of 2009. It's now a good margin into November and here I am, about 3 months late with this gem of a track. Anyway my simple words don't really do it justice so I'll let it speak for it self... Go ahead and click the play button down there ;)

By: Ricky Lashes on 10-06-2009Plain White Tom is a local dancer on the scene. Even if you don't know him, you've probably seen him out dancing your pants off, that is assuming you had the stones to get in the circle with him. Anyway, he just released a video of an act (Puppets) he performed at The Lakeshore Theater. Give it a watch and send it to your friends. Tom deserves the support, even if it is just in page views ;)

By: Ricky Lashes on 08-10-2009I made a discovery a few months back and his name is 'Another' - Using Ableton live this kid has managed to produce some very nice beats he should be proud to call his own. He is the newest edition to the Seismic Bass Artist Management sector.
He's got a fantastic remix of 'Black Betty' which is featured not only in this mix, but on his MySpace page as well. He has a unique sound bleeds the line between electro and madness. How does he stack up against the rest? What do you think of his stuff? Do you want to see him at the next party? Please comment with feedback on this one!
Please contact Ricky Lashes of Seismic Bass for all booking inquires.

By: Ricky Lashes on 07-22-2009This coming Friday marks the return date of our friend Keith MacKenzie's monthly night at Lava on Milwaukee Ave in Chicago's north side. Keith always brings out very talented guests and his nights are a staple in the Chicago breakbeat community.
What's different this time is that Midwest-EDM.com is a proud sponsor of this event! And you know that where there is M-EDM, there is value! For only $5 you get not one, but TWO out of town DJ's in headliners DJ Icon (San Francisco) and D-lerium & Faze (Orlando) artist Dustin Hulton. On top of all that action you get three more local dance floor destroyers in Keith MacKenzie (illeven:eleven/Chicago) Theo G (Seismic Bass/Chicago) and Scott Remedy.
This show is chalk full of talent so if you are looking for something fun and different this Friday night, join us over at Lava!

Posted By: Ricky Lashes on 07-07-2009Its been four months since PM's last hit promo mix 'propr' and it was worth the wait. This mix was actually scheduled to be released in May at Cloud 9's debut event but due to equipment issues he was unable to play the event and the release was postponed for Source's Independ-Dance party over the weekend. If you missed the hard copy at the event you can download it direct from Midwest-EDM now via the link below.
This mix is another dance floor banger that you would expect from PM. One of my current favorite tracks at the moment is a Zodiac Cartel remix of 'Franz Ferdinand - No You Girls' which comes on around the eleven minute marker. By the time the track is done its just straight up rockin your face off. Another track present on this mix worth mention is 'Javi Mula - Come On' which starts right around the 29 minute marker. This mix is plain old good so download it and get your groove on!

I know I *just* posted the DEMF 2008 Set downloads which includes this set, however, my experience at this live was so amazing I had to make a separate post to share it with you.
James Zabiela went on around 6:30 on Sunday at the Pioneer Pro DJ stage which was sponsored by ISP (Intelligent Signal Processing) whom was debuting their brand new speaker technology. These were some bad-ass speakers let me tell you. He followed Kenny Thomas whom already had his home-town crowd worked into a frenzy. The stage was packed, the sun was going down and Mr. Zabiela proceeded to play some of the most amazing music I ever heard on the most amazing sound system I ever heard. The whole set up was so intense that it created a pressure pocket of sorts under the tent. While the bass was thumping away, the bass would trap the air inside and it would get hot. Then without warning Zabiela would cut out the bass, the pressure would drop out and all of the cold Canadian air from outside the tent would come rushing in like a whirlwind.
Nothing I have ever seen in the DJ world has come close the experience I had during this set. Especially with Zabiela showing up Benassi at the end with this looped and scrached "Thank You" encore which he preformed looking Benassi directly in the eyes the entire time. Cool? I think so... Unfortunately they cut out the "Thank You" encore from this recording and I really have no idea why as it was one of the best parts of the set. On a side note, we have a video up on YouTube for this set >:]
