James Zabiela - Demf 2008 (Pioneer Stage)
May 25th, 2008

I know I *just* posted the DEMF 2008 Set downloads which includes this set, however, my experience at this live was so amazing I had to make a separate post to share it with you.
James Zabiela went on around 6:30 on Sunday at the Pioneer Pro DJ stage which was sponsored by ISP (Intelligent Signal Processing) whom was debuting their brand new speaker technology. These were some bad-ass speakers let me tell you. He followed Kenny Thomas whom already had his home-town crowd worked into a frenzy. The stage was packed, the sun was going down and Mr. Zabiela proceeded to play some of the most amazing music I ever heard on the most amazing sound system I ever heard. The whole set up was so intense that it created a pressure pocket of sorts under the tent. While the bass was thumping away, the bass would trap the air inside and it would get hot. Then without warning Zabiela would cut out the bass, the pressure would drop out and all of the cold Canadian air from outside the tent would come rushing in like a whirlwind.
Nothing I have ever seen in the DJ world has come close the experience I had during this set. Especially with Zabiela showing up Benassi at the end with this looped and scrached "Thank You" encore which he preformed looking Benassi directly in the eyes the entire time. Cool? I think so... Unfortunately they cut out the "Thank You" encore from this recording and I really have no idea why as it was one of the best parts of the set. On a side note, we have a video up on YouTube for this set >:]

Demf / Movement 2008 Live Sets Up!
Get'em while they're hot!

Well it's been a year since DEMF 2008 happened and once again PAXAHAU has released some of the sets recorded from last years festival. For those of us that were there, this is some fantastic news as some of the best music we ever heard was mixed live at this event. You're probably thinking these have a crapy bitrate and sound quality but guess what? You're wrong if you are. I know 128kbps is nothing to write home about, however, after the 2007 RealAudio rips, 128kbp mp3's might as well be FLAC!
Sets included are: Alex Smoke, Alex Under, Deadmau5, Joris Voorn, Moby, Stacy Pullen, Benny Benassi, Heartthrob, James Zabiela, Kenny Larkin, Cassy, David Squillance, Derek Plaslaiko, Kevin Saunderson, Lee Burridge, Mathias Kaden, Par Grindvik, Paul Ritch and Speedy J!

Designer Drugs - Datamix04
March 2009 Promo

'Designer Drugs' is an up-and-coming electro house duo from New York City. This is the first mix I have heard from them and I listen to it quite regularly. They belong to the highly regarded record label 'i heart comix' which also happens to be the home label of the infamous 'Toxic Avenger' & 'Frankie Chan'. With upcoming tour dates all over the US you Midwestern folk just missed them at Sonotheque in Chicago along with a few other cities. Everyone else, especially our west coast friends should check the Designer Drugs MySpace soon for upcoming tour dates. Either way, download this mix and give it a listen as you're sure to love it.
